Long before I became a healthcare advocate, I was a patient searching for answers.
For years, I knew something wasn't right. I experienced symptoms that couldn't be explained, yet I struggled to find someone who would truly listen. Instead of accepting "everything looks normal," I kept asking questions, seeking second opinions, and advocating for myself.
That persistence changed my life.
I was ultimately diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, a serious neurological condition that had gone undiagnosed for years. If I hadn't continued to push for answers, my story could have been very different.
That experience shaped who I am and why I do this work today.

I originally dreamed of becoming a journalist because I wanted to tell stories that mattered and give people a voice. Looking back, I realize my true calling wasn't just telling stories — it was helping people find their own voice when navigating one of the most confusing and overwhelming systems they'll ever face.
For more than 30 years, I've worked in healthcare, employee benefits, Medicare, managed care, regulatory appeals, and health advocacy, serving in leadership roles with organizations including Kaiser Permanente, Health Net, and Humana. Along the way, I've helped thousands of individuals, families, employers, providers, and seniors navigate complex healthcare decisions with confidence.
Today, I combine my professional expertise with the lessons I learned as a patient.
